How it works
The richest thing about staying here is the neighbourhood, so we walk it with you. Three mornings a week our concierge leads a small group out of the front door and into the lanes — past the Thian Hock Keng temple, the old clan associations of Telok Ayer, the spice-trader shophouses of Amoy Street and the painted five-foot-ways of Ann Siang Hill.
It is a local’s walk, not a script. We stop for kopi at a stall that has poured it the same way for forty years, point out which shophouse used to be what, and send you off knowing where to come back for dinner. It runs about ninety minutes at an easy pace and ends near a hawker centre, in case the walk has made you hungry.
The morning walk is complimentary for house guests and we are glad to arrange a private one — earlier, later, or an evening version that takes in the temples lit up and the small bars of Keong Saik — whenever your stay suits.
Best for
First-time guests who want the real story of the conservation district, not a tourist trail.
