Curio Kids began in 2017 on the upper floor of an old Joo Chiat shophouse, when our founder Rachel Sim — a former preschool teacher and a worn-out mum of two — gave up trying to tell which "educational" toys were genuinely good and which were just marketing in a colourful box.
So she did what teachers do: she tested. Every toy we sell is played with by real Singapore children and reviewed by an early-childhood educator before it earns a spot on the shelf. If a toy does not teach something real — and survive a week of hard play — we simply do not stock it.
Today we serve more than 38,000 families islandwide and map every toy to a child's age and a learning goal, so you can stop guessing too. We are still a small team that answers its own WhatsApp, and we still believe the best childhood tech is a wooden block.
