About this piece
For the words you want on a wall, not in a drawer. We burn up to three lines into oiled walnut — a wedding vow, a new family name, the date keys changed hands. The burn sits crisp against the grain and the plaque is finished ready to hang or stand.
Walnut is our favourite wood for lettering. It is dark enough to throw the burned line into relief and hard enough to hold a fine serif. We oil rather than varnish so the surface stays warm and tactile; over the years it deepens rather than yellows.
This is the piece couples order for their first home and families order for a milestone. Send us the lines and we will set the type properly — we will mock the layout and check it with you before a single line is burned.
