What finally made our bedroom restful

What finally made our bedroom restful

A note on links: this post contains affiliate links. Buy through one and the retailer pays me a small referral fee, while your price stays exactly the same — and I only ever link to things I’ve bought myself and still use.

For years our bedroom was where everything that didn’t have a home ended up. The “laundry chair” we all pretend isn’t a wardrobe. A laptop on the nightstand. A charging tangle that glowed all night. No wonder we lay awake — the room was a to-do list with a bed in it.

Fixing it was mostly subtraction. The laptop now lives in the living room, full stop. The chair got replaced with a small bench that physically can’t hold a week of clothes. We switched to a warmer bulb and stopped charging phones in the room. Only then did the additions matter: better linen, a heavier curtain, a single lamp low enough to read by.

I’m wary of the idea that you can buy your way to rest — most of what helped cost nothing but discipline. But a few honest objects did earn their place, and I’ll link the linen and the lamp below. As always, those are affiliate links; I only recommend things we still use, and the commission never changes your price.
