The Studio
A deliberately small Singapore practice that designs gardens, rooftops and green spaces — and stays involved until they're built the way they were drawn.

Why we keep it small
Tan Hui Ling started Verdura in 2014 after ten years inside bigger landscape firms. The idea was simple, if a little stubborn: keep the studio small enough that the person who walks your site is also the one who draws the planting plan and stands in the garden while it's built.
We're three designers, and we mean to stay that way. It lets us take on the kind of work we care about — a narrow side return, a wind-battered penthouse roof, a tired condo deck — and give each one the attention it actually needs. We're a design studio, not a contractor, so our loyalty is to the garden rather than to selling you more hard landscaping.
We design across Singapore — landed homes in Bukit Timah and Serangoon Gardens, condominium and rooftop spaces in the central districts, and commercial greenery for offices and F&B groups island-wide.
How we think about a garden
We design for the climate we have
Singapore is hot, wet and intense. We plant for the monsoon and the haze, not for a picture from a temperate magazine — so the garden still looks composed in its third year, not just its first month.
A garden is a room, not a decoration
The best gardens are used, not just admired through glass. We design around how you actually live — where you sit, who visits, how much you want to tend — before we choose a single plant.
Honest about upkeep
Every design comes with a clear-eyed maintenance brief. We would rather talk you into a scheme you can keep beautiful than win the moodboard and lose the garden by year two.
Who you'll work with

Tan Hui Ling
Hui Ling started Verdura in 2014 after ten years inside bigger landscape firms. She is happiest with a planting plan and a strong opinion about restraint.

Daniel Soh
Daniel leads the rooftop and structural-greening work, translating ambitious briefs into details that actually survive a Singapore monsoon.

Rachel Lim
Rachel owns the planting palette across every project — sourcing, substitutions and the long view of how a garden matures over years.
