A vocal-coaching studio in central Singapore, built on a simple idea: almost anyone can learn to sing well when they’re taught around their own voice, not a fixed syllabus.
Resonance began in 2016 when Cheryl Tan, a gigging pop and jazz vocalist, started coaching a handful of students in a borrowed room between her own performances. She had spent years being taught to chase a sound that wasn’t hers, and wanted to coach the opposite way — listening first, building around the voice in front of her.
Word spread, the handful became a waitlist, and the borrowed room became a proper studio near Bras Basah with a small team of coaches who all share the same belief: that singing is a craft you can learn, at any age, and that it should feel encouraging rather than intimidating.
Today we coach over a thousand students across technique, performance, audition prep and recording — and we still run the trial lesson exactly the way Cheryl ran her first one: hear the voice, find a quick win, and show what’s possible.

A pop and jazz vocalist who has gigged across Singapore for over a decade, Cheryl founded Resonance to teach the way she once longed to be taught herself — listening to the voice first, working on songs you love, and throwing out the rigid syllabus. She still performs most weekends.
A session musician and producer, Daniel runs our studio side and coaches performance and recording. He is the one who teaches you to sing for a microphone, and the calm voice in the booth on your first session.
