Creativity is a skill you practise, not a gift you are born with — and it grows fastest when the materials are right there and the rules are loose. The Little Makers studio gives a child everything for an open-ended session: washable poster paints, a palette, chunky easy-grip brushes, foam stampers, safety scissors and a pad of textured paper that takes paint without buckling. No instructions, no "correct" picture — just space to make a mess with intent.

We obsessed over the washable formula because the real barrier to art at home is the cleanup. These paints lift off skin, school uniforms and most HDB floor tiles with warm water, so saying yes is easy. The chunky brush handles suit small hands and build the same grip muscles a child needs for handwriting, which is why preschool teachers love an art habit.

Beyond the obvious creativity, art is sneaky language practice: ask a child to tell you about their painting and you get vocabulary, sequencing and pride all at once.
