Started by a singer who was tired of bands that didn't listen
Serena Yeo fronted wedding and hotel-lounge bands for the better part of a decade, and she kept seeing the same thing: acts that turned up under-rehearsed, played the same set regardless of the room, and ignored the run-sheet entirely. Couples deserved better, and so did the music.
So in 2017 she started Marigold — named for a bloom that warms a room — with one rule: the band serves the night, not the other way around. We map your timeline first, we learn the songs that matter to you, and we read the room from the first set to the encore.
Today Marigold is a roster of fourteen musicians who play soloist through to full band, across more than 320 weddings, dinners and celebrations. Serena still sings most of the weddings herself.
How we work
We play to your run-sheet
We map your timeline before the day and shape every set around your march-in, speeches and first dance — the band lifts the room at the right moment and steps back at the right moment.
One special song, done right
Want a song that is not in our list? Our arranger learns it, transposes it to a key that flatters your voice or your moment, and rehearses it until it feels like ours.
Soloist to full band
The same musicianship at any size. We right-size the lineup to your room and budget — one warm voice for a solemnisation, a five-piece for a dance floor.
Sound that suits the space
We bring our own PA and engineer when a venue needs it, and keep it tasteful in homes and clubhouses — live music that fills the room without rattling the neighbours.
One contact, start to encore
You deal with one person from your first message to the last song — not a planner handing you to a vendor you have never spoken to.
Honest about the room
If a soloist suits your space better than a band, we will say so. We would rather get the evening right than upsell you into a lineup the room cannot hold.
Meet the people leading the band
Behind a roster of fourteen, three people hold the music, the arrangements and your booking together.

Serena Yeo
Serena fronted wedding and hotel-lounge bands for a decade before starting Marigold in 2017, tired of acts that turned up unrehearsed and ignored the run-sheet. She still sings most of the weddings herself and personally maps every client's timeline.

Daniel Koh
Daniel arranges every special song, sets the keys and runs the band on stage. If a couple sends an obscure first-dance request on a Tuesday, Daniel usually has a workable arrangement by the weekend.

Marcus Tan
Marcus covers the horn and string add-ons and books the wider roster of 14 musicians. He is the one who knows whether a venue needs our own PA or whether the house system will do the job.
Where we rehearse
We run client run-throughs and rehearsals out of two studios — but we perform wherever your event is.
