In the chair
A hot-towel straight-razor shave is the slowest, best part of the week for a lot of our regulars, and it is meant to be. We start with hot towels to soften the beard and open the skin, work a proper brush-and-soap lather, and shave with a single open blade — with the grain first, then against it for closeness.
It is a skill, not a gimmick. The blade is steered by hand around the jaw, lip and neck, and the hot-then-cold towel rhythm is what makes the difference between a close shave and an irritated one. Done right, you get a shave a cartridge razor simply cannot match, with none of the rash.
We finish with a cold towel to close the skin and a light balm to settle it, so you walk out smooth, calm and looking like you made an effort — because you did. It is also our most-gifted service, so ask about a voucher if it is for someone else.
