A small studio in Robertson Quay
Halcyon Films started in 2017 with one camera, one editing desk and a stubborn idea about what a film should feel like.
The founder's note
I spent years as a second shooter at bigger studios, where the films were technically perfect and somehow forgettable. The day I started Halcyon Films, I made one rule: shoot the feeling first. Everything we do still comes back to that.
We stayed small on purpose. Two of us on most wedding days, a third when a shoot needs a wider angle or an aerial. We grade every frame ourselves in the loft, and we screen first cuts with couples over coffee — because a film you have not watched together is not really finished.
Nine years and a hundred and sixty films later, the work that still means the most is the quiet stuff: the parent who did not know they were on camera, the laugh between the vows. That is what we are here to keep.

How we work, start to finish
A first conversation
Over coffee or a call, we listen to the day you are planning and the films you have loved.
Plan the coverage
We map the timeline together, decide on crew, add-ons and the look you want.
The filming day
We turn up early, stay close, and stay out of the way. You will barely notice us working.
The first cut
We screen the highlight film with you in the loft and refine it until it feels right.
The people behind the lens

Rui Tan
Director & Lead Cinematographer
Started Halcyon after years as a second shooter at bigger studios. Shoots on the day and grades every film himself. Believes the best footage is the stuff nobody asked for.

Mei Hofmann
Cinematographer & Editor
Came from documentary work, which is where the studio learned to wait for a moment instead of staging one. Cuts most of our wedding highlights and runs the loft.

Darrius Ng
Second Shooter & Aerial Pilot
Our wide-angle and aerial half on a wedding day, and the steady hand on corporate shoots. CAAS-licensed for drone work across the island.
