We teach English and writing from Kindergarten 1 right through to Secondary 4. That means Preschool English Preparatory for K1–K2, Composition & Writing and English Tuition across Primary 1 to 6, Secondary English & Writing for the O-Level years, and oral classes at every level. The Writing Class Finder on this site recommends a specific class once you pick your child's level and what they most need to work on.
Deliberately small. Preschool groups are capped at six children and primary and secondary classes at eight. We cap them on purpose: small groups are the only way every child can be marked individually, heard in discussion and genuinely known by their teacher. It is the opposite of a hall-sized centre where a quiet child can drift to the back unnoticed.
It is the Inklings way of teaching writing. Rather than hoping inspiration strikes, children learn a clear, repeatable spine for any piece — how to plan a prompt, build a beginning, build-up, climax and resolution, and layer in description and dialogue that bring it alive. It takes the panic out of the blank page and gives even reluctant writers a method they can reach for in any exam.
Yes. Every programme is mapped, component by component, to the MOE English syllabus and the way PSLE and the O-Level actually mark — composition and continuous writing, comprehension, cloze, grammar, summary and oral. School and centre pull in the same direction, so what your child learns with us reinforces the classroom rather than confusing it.
Yes — in fact we recommend it. Book a trial lesson for a small fee and let your child sit a real class, not a watered-down sample, before you decide anything. For primary and secondary, a short writing placement beforehand helps us slot them into exactly the right group. There is no long contract: registration is term by term.
Fees are charged per ten-week term and depend on the level and session length, ranging from around $340 a term for preschool to $560 a term for secondary, with oral classes and holiday workshops priced separately. The Fees & Schedule page lists every level transparently, and the Writing Class Finder shows the term fee for the specific class it recommends. Payment is by PayNow or card per term — no large upfront packages.
Yes. Inklings Online runs live, small-group classes taught by the same teachers using the same method, with screen-shared marking — ideal for families island-wide or who travel. Over the June and December breaks we run intensive holiday workshops that target one skill hard, whether to fix a specific weakness, recover lost ground or stretch ahead before the new academic year.
Very often, yes. Plenty of bright, well-read children still drop marks because they have never been taught how to plan a composition, structure an answer or read a comprehension passage closely. That is exactly the gap our method fills: we turn a love of stories into the technique that earns the marks, without ever killing the enjoyment that brought them there.
We have three centres — Bukit Timah (near Beauty World MRT), Tampines (above the hub) and Jurong East (near the MRT) — plus live online classes. Any details you share when you enquire or book a trial stay private, kept the way Singapore's PDPA requires, used only to arrange your child's placement and class — and never passed to outside parties or resold.
