Started at an Ann Siang shade bar, for colour that finally fit
Velour began in 2019 when our founder Renée Chong, a makeup artist working the bridal and editorial circuit, got tired of mixing two foundations together to make a single shade her clients did not hate. The matches she needed for Singapore skin — neutral and warm depths, true cool tones — simply were not on the shelf.
So she developed her own. The first range was a foundation in forty-two shades, tested at a tiny shade bar on Ann Siang Road on the most varied skin tones she could find. The bold lips and shadow palettes came next, built on the same belief: colour should show up true on the person wearing it, and last through a day in our heat.
Velour has now matched well past 120,000 faces and lives on its reorders, yet one test still decides everything. If Renée would not trust a shade on a bride an hour before she walks in, it never reaches the shelf under our name.
The three rules behind every Velour shade
Shade-matched, not guessed
Forty-plus foundation and concealer shades developed on real Singapore skin tones and undertones.
Long-wear in our climate
Pigments and bases built to last through humidity, MRT commutes and a full day in the heat.
Cruelty-free, always
Never tested on animals, vegan where the formula allows, and honest about every ingredient.
