Founded in 2009, by a teacher who wished she had been taught better
Clara Sim started Crescendo in a single Bukit Timah room with one piano and a conviction: that most people who "gave up" on music were simply taught badly, not without talent. She had felt it herself — rushed technique, dull repertoire, exams treated as the whole point.
So Crescendo was built to teach the opposite way. Patient foundations. Music students actually want to play. The same teacher every week, so trust and progress build together. Grades available, but never the goal in themselves. And recitals that turn nervous learners into confident performers.
Seventeen years on, we are four studios across Singapore with more than forty specialist teachers — but the room still feels like that first one. Warm, focused, and genuinely glad you came.
What makes Crescendo different
One teacher, every week
No rotating tutors. Your child — or you — keeps the same specialist teacher, so trust, rapport and progress build together over months and years.
A clear path, your pace
Every student gets a mapped path towards their own goal, whether that is a grade, a favourite song or simply playing well. We adjust it as they grow.
Exam-ready when you want it
We prepare students thoroughly for ABRSM and Trinity, handle the exam entry, and run mock exams — but grades are always an option, never a requirement.
Real instruments, real rooms
Proper acoustic pianos, full drum kits and soundproofed studios at every location, so students learn on the instruments they will actually play.
Recitals that build confidence
Termly recitals and informal play-throughs give students a friendly stage to perform on — the single best thing for nerves and motivation.
Four convenient studios
Studios in Bukit Timah, Tampines, Jurong East and Serangoon, each beside an MRT, with evening and weekend slots that fit around school and work.
