About acne & acne scarring
Few skin complaints send people to a dermatologist more often than acne — and few are treated with the wrong things more often. Stubborn breakouts, deep painful lumps and the marks they leave behind rarely improve with another shop-bought cream; they need a plan matched to the type of acne and the skin it sits on.

How we assess and diagnose it
At the first consultation the dermatologist examines the skin properly, works out whether the cause is hormonal, inflammatory or related to products and routine, and then grades the treatment accordingly. That might be medical topicals, a course of oral antibiotics, hormonal options, or a supervised course of isotretinoin for severe cases — always explained, never rushed.

What treatment looks like
Scarring is treated as a separate, later step. We settle the active acne first, because resurfacing or laser work over inflamed skin makes things worse. When the skin is calm we move scar treatment to the cosmetic track, with realistic expectations set out before anything begins.
- Specialist diagnosis of acne type
- Medical topical & oral therapy
- Hormonal & lifestyle review
- Supervised isotretinoin where suitable
- A staged plan for scarring afterwards
