About psoriasis
Psoriasis is often mistaken for ordinary dry skin or eczema and treated as such for years, which is why a specialist diagnosis matters so much. It is an immune-driven condition that comes and goes, and getting the diagnosis right opens the door to treatments that genuinely work rather than ones that simply moisturise.

How we assess and diagnose it
Treatment is matched to how much skin is involved and how it affects your life. Many people do very well on topicals and a course of narrowband phototherapy; for moderate-to-severe or resistant psoriasis, modern biologic medicines have changed what is possible, and we assess eligibility carefully and explain the monitoring involved.

What treatment looks like
Because psoriasis can affect the joints as well as the skin, part of the consultation is checking for early signs of psoriatic arthritis so it is caught and managed before it causes damage. It is a long-term condition, and our aim is steady, livable control rather than a quick fix that fades.
