For the hop chasers. A confident, resinous West Coast IPA — grapefruit, pine and a firm bitter backbone that lingers. Brewed for people who already love hops.
Kiln King is unapologetic. While much of the craft world has drifted toward soft, juicy hazy IPAs, we wanted a beer that remembers what an IPA used to taste like: clear, bracingly bitter, and dry enough to make you reach for the next sip. We build it on a clean pale-malt base so nothing gets in the hops' way, then layer three additions of classic American hops for grapefruit, resin and pine.
At 58 IBU and 6.4% it is the most assertive beer in our core range, and that suits us fine — not every beer needs to please everyone. The bitterness is firm but the finish is clean rather than harsh, because we balance it with just enough malt sweetness and ferment it fully dry.
It is a polarising pour, and we mean that as a compliment. The drinkers who love it really love it, and it is the can they buy by the case. If you are new to hops, start with the Canalside Pale and work up — but if you already know you are a hop chaser, this is your beer.
Sharp aged cheddar, spicy laksa, blue-cheese fries.
