Questions, answered

The things parents most often ask us — from ratios and fees to settling-in and tours.

We welcome babies from 2 months old into infant care, then through playgroup, nursery and Kindergarten 1 and 2, all the way up to age six and the step into Primary 1. Infant places and the youngest playgroup spots are the most in-demand and fill earliest, so if you are coming back from maternity leave it pays to tour and join the waitlist well before your intended start.
Yes — every Little Banyan centre is registered with the Early Childhood Development Agency and is staffed by qualified, screened early-childhood educators. Our programme follows Singapore’s national Nurturing Early Learners framework, brought to life through an inquiry-led, Reggio-influenced approach and a genuinely bilingual English-and-Mandarin day.
Fees are charged monthly and depend on the programme, your child’s age and whether you choose full-day or half-day. Singapore-citizen children attending a childcare programme receive a basic subsidy, and families with a working mother qualify for a higher working-mother subsidy, both applied to your monthly invoice. Our Programme & Fee Finder shows your likely fee before and after subsidy; the figures are indicative and confirmed once we have your details.
We keep ratios warm and often lower than the regulatory minimum: one educator to five infants, one to eight in playgroup, one to twelve in nursery, and one to fifteen in K1 and K2. Just as importantly, our educators tend to stay for years, so your child is cared for by familiar faces who genuinely know them, rather than a rotating cast.
Gently, and at your child’s pace. We run a staggered settling-in over the first week — shorter sessions building up to full days — with a familiar key educator and a goodbye routine we keep identical every morning. You are welcome to call or message any time, and you will receive photos and a short note each day so you can see, not just hope, that the settling is going well.
Days follow a calm, predictable rhythm because that is what helps young children feel safe enough to learn. A morning welcome and circle, long stretches of play and project work, a shared snack and meal, daily outdoor time, rest for those who nap, and a settled story-and-songs wind-down. The exact shape varies by age — infants follow their own feed-and-nap rhythm, while K2 has more structured reading, writing and transition work.
You will hear from us a lot. Parents receive daily photos and notes through our app, regular honest learning snapshots of what your child has mastered and is working on, and termly conversations with the teaching team. We also keep an open-door policy — you are always welcome to visit, observe and ask — because we would far rather you knew exactly how things are going than wondered.
We have four centres — Punggol, Tampines, Bukit Panjang and Yishun — each near MRT or LRT and serving its neighbourhood. The best way to choose is to come and see a real morning in action. Book a tour through any centre page, message us on WhatsApp, or use the contact form; tours are usually on weekday mornings or Saturday, and you are welcome to bring your child along.
The details and photos you entrust to us stay confidential and serve a single purpose — caring for your child and keeping you informed — and we manage it to the standard Singapore’s PDPA sets out. Your information is never passed to outside parties for marketing, and at any point you may ask to see, correct or delete the records we keep on your family.
