Kindergarten 2 at Little Banyan

Kindergarten 2 is about arriving at Primary 1 ready — not rushed. Children build genuine reading fluency, write for real purposes, and develop the number sense and problem-solving the early primary years assume. We deliberately resist turning the year into endless assessment books; the children who do best in P1 are the ones who arrive curious, resilient and confident, and that is what we protect.

A good chunk of K2 is the practical work of transition. Children practise managing a longer day, following multi-step instructions, lining up, buying from a mock canteen, and speaking up in a bigger group. We run readiness workshops for parents too, walking you through registration, the first weeks of P1 and how to support the change at home, so the whole family moves up together.

And we never lose the joy. Big collaborative projects, performances, outdoor challenges and plenty of laughter run right through the year, because a happy, self-assured six-year-old is the best possible foundation for everything that comes next. Graduation day from Little Banyan is, fittingly, a very proud morning.
