Our story
Pigment began with a simple frustration. Our founder, Cheryl Soh, had trained at NAFA and taught at a big enrichment centre — bright kids, thirty to a room, a worksheet each, and no real teaching. She knew art could be taught far better than that, and far more kindly.
So in 2017 she took a lease on a quiet Tiong Bahru shophouse, fitted out one teaching room, borrowed a kiln, and started with a Saturday kids' class of six. The promise was the one we still keep: small classes, real teaching, everything provided, and no one ever made to feel slow. Nine years on we have two studios, a proper kiln room, and several thousand students who once swore they couldn't draw.
Why families choose us
The things that make Pigment different from a big enrichment centre — and the reasons our students stay term after term.
Small classes, real attention
Capped at eight easels so every student is seen, named and helped. You are taught, not just supervised.
Working artists who can teach
Our tutors exhibit their own work and are trained to bring yours along — technique, honesty and encouragement in equal measure.
All materials included
Pencils, paints, paper, clay, kiln firings, easels and aprons are all provided. Turn up empty-handed and leave with finished work.
A path for every age
From five-year-olds in Kids Art Club to retirees in morning class to teens building a portfolio — a course for every stage of life.
Try before you commit
A $45 drop-in trial in any beginner course, credited to your term if you join. No long contracts, no pressure to stay.
Two warm neighbourhood studios
Light-filled spaces in Tiong Bahru and East Coast, with a real kiln room. Properly equipped, never clinical.
Meet the teachers
Every tutor is a working artist who has been taught how to teach — honest, patient and genuinely good company.

Cheryl Soh
Trained at NAFA and taught for a decade before opening Pigment to teach the way she always wished she had been taught — small, kind and skilful. Still leads the Drawing Foundations class herself.

Daryl Ng
A practising painter who shows regularly around Singapore. Leads the painting and DSA-portfolio tracks, and is famous for critique that is honest, specific and somehow never deflating.

Priya Menon
Runs the kiln room and the Kids Art Club with equal warmth. A ceramicist by training, she can centre clay blindfolded and get the shyest five-year-old painting within minutes.
