Inside the Tween Art Foundations (10–12) course

Ten-to-twelves who have outgrown craft and want to learn to draw and paint properly.
What you will get out of it:
- Weekly 1.5-hour classes across the term
- All materials & a personal sketchbook provided
- Drawing, painting, watercolour & clay rotation
- Structured technique with creative freedom
- Termly progress note for parents
Tweens are ready for more than craft, and this class gives it to them without ever feeling like school. Across the term they build genuine foundations — observational drawing, colour mixing, composition and finishing — while still making things they are excited to show their friends.
We move through pencil and ink, acrylic and a taste of watercolour and clay, so they discover what they love. Lessons are structured but never rigid; we teach the technique, then let them make it their own. It is the age where confidence either grows or quietly fades, so we are careful to keep it growing.
Small groups mean a tween who is shy about their work gets noticed and encouraged, and one who is racing ahead gets stretched. Many of our teen and portfolio students started right here. All materials are provided and finished pieces go home each term.
