Frequently asked

Your questions, answered honestly

Everything new members ask before their first class — from “I can’t do a pull-up” to how long a muscle-up really takes. If yours isn’t here, just message us.

Absolutely — that is exactly who the Foundations class is built for. Being unable to do a pull-up yet simply means nobody has coached you through the steps. We start with dead hangs, scapular pulls, band-assisted reps and slow negatives, and most members earn their first strict pull-up in eight to twelve weeks. There is zero ego in the room; beginners are the majority of who we coach.
It depends on your starting point, but honest timelines look like this: a first strict pull-up in around 8–12 weeks of consistent training, a first bar muscle-up in roughly 4–8 months once your pull-up and dip are solid, and a first freestanding handstand in about 4–6 months of practice. Our Skill Path Planner builds a personalised estimate around what you can currently do. Expect an honest path from us, never a hype-driven promise.
Foundations is the beginner track for your first pull-up and dip. Intermediate is for those who own the basics and want the bar muscle-up and ring work. Advanced Statics trains the long-game strength skills — planche, front lever, back lever. Handbalance & Skills is a dedicated handstand and balance track, and Mobility keeps your wrists, shoulders and hips healthy. Junior Groundwork is our kids’ class, and One-to-One is fully personal coaching. Most members combine a strength track with Skills or Mobility.
Both, and one membership covers both. Our Paya Lebar studio has indoor bars, gymnastic rings and a matted floor for skills and statics work, six minutes from the MRT. We also run coached sessions on the outdoor bars at East Coast Park, popular for weekend mornings. You are free to mix the two however suits you.
Easiest is to grab a $25 trial in whichever level looks right, or just WhatsApp us your goal and we’ll steer you to the best class to begin. Wear something you can move in, bring water and a small towel — bars, rings, mats and chalk are all provided. Turn up about ten minutes ahead of your first session and a coach will run a quick assessment to place you properly.
Safety is the backbone of how we coach. Groups are small so a coach watches your technique, progressions are scaled to your actual level rather than your ego, and wrist, shoulder and connective-tissue conditioning is built into the programming precisely to prevent the niggles that stall most people. If you have an existing injury or condition, tell us at your assessment and we will adapt your training around it.
Yes — Junior Groundwork is our coached class for children aged 7 to 14, all abilities welcome with no gymnastics background needed. Classes are age-grouped, run on matted floors with a low coach-to-child ratio, and channel climbing, hanging, swinging and balancing into real strength and confidence through games and challenges. Siblings train at a discount.
Not at all — strength, fitness and flexibility are things you build here, in the right sequence. Some of our members couldn’t hang from a bar on day one; others came across from running or the weights room with no skill training behind them. From whatever starting point you bring, we slot you into the level that genuinely moves you forward and build from there.
Your contact details, anything you tell us about injuries or health at sign-up, and your class history stay confidential, stored securely under Singapore’s PDPA. They exist purely so we can coach you safely and run your membership — we don’t market at you, and nothing leaves Groundwork.

Still wondering if it’s for you?

The honest answer is almost always yes — the only way to know is to come and try. Book a $25 trial in any class.
