What the class is like
Foundations is the room most people begin in. There is no flowing through poses you have never seen and no keeping up with a fast room. The teacher takes the class slowly, names each shape, shows you how to get in and out of it safely, and explains why the breath matters as much as the posture.
You will learn the handful of poses that everything else is built on — a steady standing base, a few gentle openers, a simple seated breath — and how to listen to your own body rather than copy the person on the next mat. Props are used freely and without fuss, so a tight hip or a stiff back is met where it is, not pushed past.
It is an unhurried, judgement-free hour. Most people feel looser and noticeably calmer by the end of the first class, and ready to move into Hatha or a gentle Flow within a few weeks. We would rather you build a practice that lasts than rush you into the hardest room.
